Making NRS Injury Law Ohio’s Most Effective Workers’ Compensation Law Firm, One Employee at a Time

Melanie Beechuk is the Chief Human Resources Officer at NRS Injury Law, where she serves in numerous roles. An excellent communicator and someone who understands the importance of workplace culture and employee support, Melanie excels at making the firm a place where people want to show up for work every day.

Bringing an Ethos of Customer Service to Ohio’s Largest Workers’ Compensation Law Firm

“When I joined the law firm as an assistant in 2015, there were just a handful of employees working out of one office,” Melanie said, describing her trajectory within the firm. “Now we have offices strategically spread across Ohio so we can serve clients in all 88 counties, and we have over 140 employees!”

As for her origin story, Melanie tells of a hardworking young woman seeking customer service and administrative assistant roles in the greater Cleveland area. “I’d gone to school to be an educator, but I’d spent years supplementing my teaching roles with customer service and administrative assistant jobs, so I’d developed a real knack for these other skill sets,” she said. “My uncle knew I was looking for a job, and he connected me with an attorney who knew Barb McCoy, NRS Injury Law’s Chief Administrative Officer. Barb and I had one phone call and a few interviews back in 2015, and the rest is history.”

Today, Melanie draws on her diverse background in education, retail, executive management, administrative assistance, and customer-facing support roles, all of which inform her ability to develop and implement workplace systems and practices that reduce turnover and improve employee satisfaction.

“The Culture of the Workplace is Essential Because We Spend So Much of Our Life Working”

“Our clients don’t see what’s happening behind the scenes at NRS Injury Law, but they can feel it,” Melanie says. “We consistently get feedback from our clients to the tune of, ‘Your law firm is just… different.’ And they’re right. The difference is that we create a workplace culture where our employees thrive. And when our team of attorneys and support staff thrive, they’re able to perform to the best of their abilities for our clients.”

Melanie is a strong believer in the maxim that “Your job is where you spend most of your time, so you should enjoy it.” It’s a belief the law firm’s executive team and Co-Managing Partners share with her, so Melanie has taken it upon herself to make NRS Injury Law a supportive, family-like institution. Drawing on her teaching background, Melanie also provides comprehensive on-site training and educational support to ensure employees are positioned for success from day one.

“A law office is not a stress-free environment, because every day we work with clients who are going through painful injuries and financial hardship,” Melanie says. “Our HR role is even more important for that reason alone, hence the need to continuously nourish a culture of support, empathy, and a people-focused attitude. We are not a machine. We are a team of hardworking, compassionate, empathetic folks who like working together and who want to show up for our clients. When we can keep that ethos in place, we win.”

Work/Life Balance

“I have a husband, a son, two step-daughters, and three dogs,” Melanie says with a smile when asked how she fills her time outside of work. “We are a big, happy family and we do everything together.” Case in point, Melanie involves the kids in sports, Girl Scouts, and other activities. On weekends, she and her husband tackle home remodeling projects. When all the chores are finished, Melanie enjoys live music, sporting events, and a mandatory annual vacation (or two) with her immediate family, friends, and occasionally her parents or in-laws.

“We’re only as good as our team,” Melanie said in closing. “Focusing on improving workplace conditions and culture is essential, because it means our team is being the best it can be, which has an immediate, beneficial effect for our clients.”

Melanie’s compassion and empathy, combined with her unmatched leadership skills, knack for problem-solving, and ability to listen to the person in front of her all align perfectly with NRS Injury Law’s mission to: “Provide empathetic and patient service to every person who calls the firm, and to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome on behalf of every client by putting collective experience, knowledge, and passion to work every day.” To retain an effective legal team with a proven track record and to speak with Melanie and the firm about your case, call 855.468.4878 or fill out a convenient online contact form.
