Leveraging a Diverse Background in Law to Win Cases for Injured Ohio Workers
Robert Marcis is an Associate Attorney at NRS Injury Law, focusing on workers’ compensation law. Drawing on a rich background as a trial attorney representing workers injured by asbestos poisoning, Robert’s care for his clients, his compassion, drive, preparedness, ability to communicate, and his knack for teamwork make him an essential asset to the firm.
Taking a Team-Focused Approach to Law
From his childhood, Robert has always had an understanding of the importance of teamwork, helping others, and being a positive presence in his community. As a teen, when he wasn’t playing a team sport, Robert would take the bus after school to his father’s downtown Cleveland law office, help out there for a bit, and then walk to the Huntington Bank Field for his after-school job. During summer break, Robert cut grass on a landscaping crew and caddied at a local golf course. In every role he held, and wherever he went, he fostered teamwork, relationship-building, and effective communication.
Shortly after passing the bar in 1998, Robert began working as a trial attorney by trying asbestos cases across the country. He met with union steelworkers in the Midwest and beyond, hard-working Americans who’d been injured by asbestos poisoning. Robert would counsel his clients, build a bulletproof case with them, and then go up against 30-40 attorneys representing powerful insurance companies. “It was hard work for a young attorney,” Robert said. “But it taught me from an early age the importance of teamwork, and it instilled in my heart a mission to represent people who had been wronged. I’ve been driven by that mission ever since.”
Combining Communication Skills, a Knack for Preparation, and Trial Experience to Win for Clients
“People just want to be heard and to feel like they have someone advocating for them,” Robert said, talking about his transition into running his practice. “I saw communication, preparation, teamwork, and trial experience as being the core factors that helped me excel as an attorney, so I wanted to build a practice around those values.” Robert ran his legal practice for 17 years before joining NRS Injury Law, seamlessly transitioning into a role as Associate Attorney and bringing his extensive background in workers’ compensation law and trial experience with him.
“I want to help clients navigate the complex environment that is workers’ comp in such a way so they’re not overly stressed about it,” Robert said when asked about his goals at the firm. “No one expects to deal with a workplace injury, so it’s natural to be stressed out. But when we (my clients and I) can arrive at a place where we’re not stressed, where we are in good communication, then we can work together and build a winning case.”
Work/Life Balance
When he’s not practicing law, Robert spends much of his free time coaching youth sports (more on that later). He also spends time with his family on weekends, hosting euchre nights and going for long walks with his dogs. He enjoys pickleball when the weather is good, and he’s an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Don’t Wait to Seek Legal Help from Robert Marcis
“The reward as an attorney is the ability to help others,” Robert said in closing. “That’s the driving ethos behind NRS Injury Law. This firm has a lot of moving parts, and everyone works really well together. Everyone is eager to lean into their role, knowing that every role is important to the client.”
Robert’s commitment to advocating for injured workers, his communication-forward approach, and his knack for teamwork align perfectly with NRS Injury Law’s mission to: “Provide empathetic and patient service to every person who calls the firm, and to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome on behalf of every client by putting collective experience, knowledge, and passion to work every day.” To retain an effective legal team with a proven track record and to speak with Robert and the firm about your case, call 855.468.4878 or fill out a convenient online contact form.
Community Impact
Robert’s multi-decade legal career has centered on helping others, a core commitment he carries into both his career and his personal life. When he’s not practicing law, Robert is deeply involved in several coaching programs and youth sports activities. He coaches for the City of Bay Village as Head Coach of the recreational softball, basketball, and soccer teams. Robert is also a Board Member of the Bay Soccer Club and a Parent Committee Chairperson for Bay High Varsity Soccer. Robert serves as the Head JV and Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach for Padua Franciscan High School, and he was the former Head Coach for basketball and volleyball at St. Raphael Grade School. “You learn a lot through sports,” Robert said after listing out his coaching activities. “You learn how to strategize and be methodical and organized, all good traits to have as an attorney. But you also learn to be respectful and to have sportsmanship, which is equally important in the courtroom.”
