Building Winning Cases with Empathy, Communication, and Collaboration

Nadine Jones is an Attorney at NRS Injury Law, focusing on workers’ compensation law. Drawing on her experience in Social Security, disability, and workers’ compensation, Nadine collaborates closely with her clients to build winning cases. A first-generation attorney, Nadine’s working-class upbringing and empathy, along with her work ethic, communication skills, and deep understanding of Ohio law, combine to position her as one of the most effective workers’ compensation attorneys in the state.

A Background in Blue-Collar Ohio

“My mom is a combat veteran and would later become a proud business owner, operating her own family bakery,” Nadine began. “Starting in the 5th grade, I’d wake up at 4:00 a.m., help Mom get the bakery ready, go to school, then come back to close the bakery in the afternoon.” Nadine insists she did not have a hard life, but she tells a story steeped in working-class roots and a blue-collar lifestyle familiar to so many in Ohio. “My dad worked manufacturing jobs, and my family has a rich history in the United Auto Workers,” Nadine said.

While helping with the family business, Nadine also worked part-time at JCPenney, and, since she did very well in high school, Nadine decided to take the LSAT, which she studied in the JCPenney stockroom during her mandated 15-minute break. “I’d do logic games with the mannequins,” Nadine said through a chuckle. Nadine did well on the LSAT and, because she excelled in speech and debate in high school, received a scholarship to attend Youngstown State University.

Helping Others Who Cannot Help Themselves

The further she progressed through her academic career, the more convinced Nadine became that she wanted to become an attorney so she could help those who could not help themselves, individuals up against powerful institutions that bent existing laws and policies to fit their agendas. For one summer, Nadine worked at Community Legal Aid, where she represented impoverished pregnant women facing eviction. “That was a crucible moment for me,” Nadine says. “I had been so naive before. Landlords just choose to ignore the medical documentation provided by tenants and threaten them with homelessness during some of the most vulnerable times of their lives – impoverished, pregnant, bedridden, and sick. Now living in an unimaginable circumstance and unable to work to pay their rent on time. That job made me realize how many people slip through the cracks in this country, and how necessary it is to advocate for those who can’t fight alone.”

As she went through law school, graduated, passed the bar, and began practicing law, Nadine saw many of her family members and friends in the clients she represented. For her, it became her life’s mission to leverage the legal protections and institutions of the state to help people who had experienced a life-changing injury at work.

Work/Life Balance

When she’s not working at the firm’s Euclid office, Nadine loves to read, cook, bake, watch documentaries, attend social events, and make needlepoint Christmas ornaments. “These aren’t just any Christmas ornaments,” Nadine says. “I make fun stuff. Recently I did a needlepoint Christmas ornament of a Celsius energy drink can and a Diet Coke can.”

Don’t Wait to Seek Legal Help from Nadine Jones

“We understand what the Civil Rights Act says, and we understand what the Americans with Disabilities Act says,” Nadine said in closing. “But people often forget that the disabled, including disabled workers, are still a protected class of people. At NRS Injury Law, this firm is wholly dedicated to representing working people. The entire ethos of the firm revolves around it, around representing this group of individuals who have been severely disadvantaged due to a workplace injury, individuals who are now wondering how on earth to move forward with their lives. This firm exists to help them solve that problem.”

Nadine’s commitment to working people, her communication and listening abilities, case-building skills, empathy, relatability, and her unmatched rhetoric talents are all traits that align perfectly with NRS Injury Law’s mission to: “Provide empathetic and patient service to every person who calls the firm, and to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome on behalf of every client by putting collective experience, knowledge, and passion to work every day.” To retain an effective legal team with a proven track record and to speak with Nadine and the firm about your case, call 855.468.4878 or fill out a convenient online contact form.

Community Impact

Nadine volunteers at the University of Akron School of Law by coaching moot court students. She assists them in drafting and delivering compelling arguments with a focus on international law. Nadine was also recently elected to the Board of Directors for Simply Slavic, a cultural heritage nonprofit based in Youngstown. “The primary intent of our organization is to encourage cultural bonds within the community through education, outreach, and public events,” Nadine says. “We promote Eastern European art, language, and food through activities like our big Simply Slavic Heritage Festival, which we put on every summer in downtown Youngstown.” The nonprofit promotes local scholarships, and Nadine and other members engage with residents of a sister city in Slovakia.
