A Chief Executive and a Superb Client Advocate at the Nexus of All Things NRS Injury Law
Barb McCoy is the Chief Administrative Officer at NRS Injury Law, where she serves in numerous roles in both directing and supporting the firm in its day-to-day operations. Critically, Barb also plays an essential role in implementing the firm’s growth strategies. No matter the time of day or the season of life, Barb consistently pairs business expansion with her ever-present ability to prioritize client success.
A Path to NRS Injury Law that Began on a Baseball Pitch
In 2007, Barb’s oldest son was playing baseball with NRS Injury Law Founding Attorney David Nager’s son. “One day, during a game, David and I were sitting together watching our sons play and he was telling me about how he could really use some help handling the books for his growing law firm, and he asked me if I wanted to work 10 hours per week managing bill payments.”
Barb says she had no idea that, when she said yes to that offer, she was also saying yes to the career opportunity of a lifetime. Within a year, Barb was working full-time for NRS Injury Law, learning how the legal practice operated and how her skills with organization, management, numbers, communication, and teamwork could benefit the firm.
A Business Leader Who Communicates with Clients Every Day
There are no lofty “ivory towers” at NRS Injury Law, an ethos Barb is proud of. For example, though she is a top executive at a law firm of over 100 employees, Barb insists on spending much of her day talking to the firm’s clients. “No one calls a law firm because they’re having a good day,” Barb says. “It’s my job to help our clients when they are at their worst, when something is not going right for them, when they simply need a solution right now, here, today. I’m the one taking those calls because it matters to me and because our job, above anything else, is to show up for injured workers and get results for them.”
Beyond her roles in client advocacy and leadership, Barb also leads the firm’s many internal operations that foster an office culture of camaraderie, friendship, and teamwork. “Our executives understand that building a supportive team is essential,” Barb says. “We have to show up for each other so we can, in turn, show up for our clients. So whether it’s something as simple as doing a themed office lunch one day per week, or hosting office award ceremonies and holiday or seasonal parties, events, and picnics, we’re committed to making the employees feel loved and supported.”
“You know those neighborhood ‘libraries’ communities build so they can share books?” Barb asks, almost as an afterthought. “We built one for our office so employees could share books and find subjects and interests in common with each other. Initiatives like that make our law office different, more cohesive, and ultimately more effective when it comes to advocating for injured workers in Ohio.”
Work/Life Balance
What began in 2007 as a part-time, Sunday-afternoon job she could do from her kitchen table while the boys played outside has become a lifetime commitment, so when Barb is not working for the firm and supporting NRS Injury Law’s clients, she’s traveling, attending music concerts, and taking classes at her local YMCA. Barb likes to read and attend plays and musicals. She enjoys an afternoon shopping just as much as the next gal, and she’ll never say no to a night at the movie theater with her girlfriends.
Yet more than anything, Barb loves being a mom. “My boys are my world,” Barb says, referring to her sons Tim and Connor. “They are well into adulthood, but we still spend weekends together, and we go on at least one big vacation per year. They still love spending time with Mom, and I couldn’t be more grateful for that.”
Don’t Wait to Seek Help from Barb McCoy and NRS Injury Law
“Why have I doubled down on my commitment to NRS Injury Law every year since 2007?” Barb asked in response to a closing question. “Well, the men who founded the firm (David Nager) and who run the firm (Daniel Romaine and Jerry Schneiberg) are three of the best people I’ve ever met in my life. They are just really good people with good hearts, men who care for others and believe in what they do. I’m here because I’m part of the mission and I want to support honest people who live by their commitment to helping others.”
Barb’s unmatched work ethic, her ability to connect with anyone, and her infallible moral compass are all traits that fit perfectly with NRS Injury Law’s mission to: “Provide empathetic and patient service to every person who calls the firm, and to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome on behalf of every client by putting collective experience, knowledge, and passion to work every day.” To retain an effective legal team with a proven track record and to speak with Barb and the firm about your case, call 855-468-4878 or fill out a convenient online contact form.

Community Impact
Barb has always been motivated to give back and support her community. While her sons were in grade school, Barb was an active volunteer-parent at St. Justin Martyr and St. Ignatius High School. She also coached for the Willoughby Baseball League. After joining NRS Injury Law in 2007, Barb made it her mission to support the firm’s Co-Managing Partners in their mission to involve the firm in as many community endeavors as possible.
Barb has nearly lost count of the community-focused campaigns the firm has supported during her tenure, but two stand out as being particularly near and dear:
1) In 2021, Barb and the Co-Managing Partners saw an opportunity to support the community by sponsoring and volunteering at Miracle League, something the firm has continued to do every year since. An adaptive baseball program featuring specialized equipment and a rubberized field, Miracle League is designed to give children and adults with physical or mental disabilities a chance to play baseball. “My time spent working with Miracle League has given me some of my best memories to date,” says Barb, who is a frequent volunteer during the league’s 12-week season. “The athletes play every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5 p.m., and we at the firm love showing up in different themes each week,” Barb added. “My favorite was the Hawaiian luau theme.”
2) Barb also became active with Open Doors Academy, a passion project of Co-Managing Partner Jerry Schneiberg, who serves as the organization’s Board President. To support Open Doors, Barb helps oversee the firm’s ongoing contribution of “adopting” families during the holidays. Per the organization’s mission statement, Open Doors Academy “protects, inspires, nurture and challenges youth to reach their full potential.” Barb organizes NRS Injury Law’s efforts to support families in need by providing gifts, home and personal essentials, and financial relief.
